Poetry in motion….

My Mother’s Rain

At my mother’s house the rain comes in fast,

I stand on the porch as the rain hits the street,

I feel the mist on my face, all the way to my feet.

At my mother’s house the rain beats down hard.

I stand on the porch and know I am home.

I know where I am loved. I’m not alone.

At my mother’s house the rain washes away the pain,

I stand on the porch and watch the rain hit the street,

I hear the music, the melody – the calming beat.

At my mother’s house the rain storm is wild.

I stand on the porch feeling the mist wash over me.

I hear her voice in the wind saying “Go, be free.”

At my mother’s house the rain falls softer now.

I stand on the porch knowing this is where I belong.

I feel peace in my heart. I know the words to this song.

At my mother’s house the rain silently fades.

I stand next to my mother, no longer in pain,

I fall silently in step to my mother’s rain.
